my simple view of politics..
I’m just a simple guy with a simple political view. For me, it’s a very big lose not only to BN but to Malaysia as a whole. Maybe because my economic background, I see things differently. I know its important for the Oppositions movement to win one or two states but not five, and the worst thing is the two states they won is Penang and Selangor. These two states are very important for political and economics stability of Malaysia. What will happen to Malaysia now?
A political party is like a movie, the more visual effect it has plus with a twisted storyline, the more interesting the movie will be. This will attract people to see that movie over and over again. This is what happen to PKR, PAS, and DAP. The idea of lower the oil price, more job opportunity, price of good stability and lower crime rate is the new story told by the Opposition but what the general people don’t know is, this storyline has a twist, the twist is this is a global event. People in Malaysia should be very lucky the increase in price is not as high in Indonesia, Thailand and all our neighboring countries. Plus, the government subsidies our oil. But some smart people will say, the governments only use 50 percent of the Petronas income to the benefit of the people, why not use all? This can reduce the price and give more benefit to the people. The answer given by Tan Sri Nor Mohamed is the best, “The Intertemporal Production Possibilities Set” theory. This is an economic theory, let me put it simple so everyone will understand, the theory say the amount we save is the same as the amount we invest. Do you know Petronas oil reserve is going to be finish by 2011 if we can’t find other oil source in Malaysia? Yes, the BN government can use 100 percent of Petronas income but where will we get our income from when the oil reserve is finish. So the government is currently investing heavily in the gulf countries and making all sort of agreement with oil producer all over the world so Petronas can continue producing oil when the time comes. Its human nature to think only about the present but never think about the future.
Continue to my movie theory again, meanwhile BN is playing old movies all over again. This is where BN get it wrong, BN thought people will never get boring watching the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee movies over and over, some people like me maybe not but the new generation is already bored because they watched it since they are kids. They memorize the line and the storyline is just the same. The young generation wants to see action, love and movies made by the Hollywood. Maybe they don’t care about economics stability or all this price increase but they just want the government to feel their own medicine. Yes, im sure most of the BN leader ego’s are hurt but the amount of bank balance they have will heal they wound. Realize or not, actually the real victim here is the people, with this new unstable political environment comes many new problem I’m sure. The rich leaders of BN will not get badly hurt because they have all the money in the world but middle class and poor people like us will get the effect. Harder working environment, harder to find jobs and the worst of all is our country is now expose to the “attack” from the west.
What I mean is, believe it or not, now our great country is open for “attack”. The west can accused us for many wrong doings, example Malaysia is a extreme Islamic country. To all you PAS members out there, to compare our BN government and the other Islamic countries, we are doing just fine. Turkey for example, Turkey is once a very great nation of Islam and the biggest Islamic population in the world once. Now what happen to it? What happen to the Great Ottoman Empire? Now, the Turkey government is banning wearing “tudung” in university. Even in a great Islamic nation like turkey is doing something like this. So again people, to compare we and the rest of the Islamic nation we are one of the front runner. We are leading by example in term of Islamic banking, Islamic teaching and Islamic leadership. Dr Mahathir is well respect by all the foreigners I met in campus. Among all of the foreigners, I respect the most is the Yemenis, for all the wrong doing of the Saudi’s, the Yemenis are the one who set the example for what is a true Muslim really means. I know PAS want to build a true Islamic nation like the old days but nowadays a nation like that is quite impossible without the intrusion of the west. What we have right now is moderate Islam government and I think is good enough for the Muslim people in Malaysia to make a decision what is right and what is wrong for them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti PAS and I respect a lot what Tok Guru Haji Nik Aziz is doing with his party but BN has done enough to make sure our country remain a Islamic country without being too extremis in the eyes of the world. I know maybe my statement is quite harsh for a Muslim, I deeply know the only person matter is the Al-Mighty but we must realize and accept we live in a materialistic world, and we must put the interest of others also, in this case our nation Malaysia and its people.
People have kept asking me. How do I know the job will be less and harder working environment when the opposition promise otherwise. The answer is so simply. As an economist and speculator in training, the answer is political instability. The outside world now will see us as unstable nations. This will lead to less FDI from international. When this happen, there will be less MNC based here and this will lead to less job, more unemployment and for sure the crime rate will increase. This is the simplest answer I can give so most of us can understand. I don’t think most of us know this fact, Malaysia is a very respected and a leader in term of development and Islamic matter in the developing world and also the world in general. Malaysia is one of the “Tiger” in Asia. Only Japan, Korea, China, India, Singapore and Hong Kong are above us. What I mean is in term of economics and political voice, when Malaysia speaks the whole world will listen. I think we should be proud of the BN especially in the Dr. Mahathir era, Malaysia has become one of the most powerful countries in Asia and I’m sure one day the world.
Yes, I know I’m pro BN a little but I do realize the corruption that is taking place in the higher ranking leaders in BN. I’m from Sabah and I do know what corruption really means. Do you think the landslide win in Sabah recently is because my own people are ignorant or just don’t know about the corruption taking place in our own state? Yes, I do believe, all of Sabahan knew about the corruption but to compare to the development made by the BN government in Sabah is far more important than anything else. I think the key word here is “grateful”. Someone used to say to me “when “Pilihanraya” times the politician will come out and meet the people but when “Hari Raya” comes they will hide in their big houses from the people”. In this case, I think the BN leaders should take example from Tok Guru Nik Aziz. He is the true definition of a true leader should be in term of social relationship to his people nowadays. The concept of BN is a very good concept in a multinational race like Malaysia. For Malays, Chinese and Indian live side by side with harmony. im not saying this concept is not 100 percent perfect but it has been working for 50 years already and there’s no reason why it will not for the next 50 years more. Actually there’s nothing wrong with 3 big parties fighting for the interest of our own race but when the times come to protect our nation, I’m sure we will join hand by hand to protect our great nation. There’s nothing wrong in BN actually but the wrong doing is cause by the corrupt leader in BN. The things we should do in the last election is not to dismiss BN power but to change the leaders in BN. I do hope one day, someone like Dr. Mahathir will emerge again and save Malaysia politics from nepotism and the corrupt leaders. But now, the end of the day, we must support our own government no matter how corrupt they are because deep in they heart they are still Malaysian and they want to do the best for our great nation in term of protecting from the West like they did before 50 years ago. The more stable we are, the more powerful become. The more unstable we become, the easier for the West to conquer us again. Do we want to become like our trouble neighbors just because we hate one or two leaders in BN or do we want to be a great nation like we suppose to be. Think about it.
